As a Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah member, you can travel with peace of mind knowing you’re covered through the BlueCard Program. Whether you travel nationally or worldwide, you'll have access to most all doctors and hospitals affiliated with Blue Cross and/or Blue Shield Plans throughout the United States and in more than 200 countries.

How the BlueCard Program Works

Within the United States

• In an emergency, go directly to the nearest hospital.

• To find doctors and hospitals, call 1 (800) 810 BLUE (2583) or visit www.bcbs.com.

• Present your member card at the doctor’s office or hospital.

• After you receive care, we’ll send you a complete explanation of benefits. In most cases you won’t need to complete any claim forms or pay for any upfront medical expenses other than the usual out-of-pocket expenses (i.e., non-covered services, deductible, copay or coinsurance).

Around the World

• Verify your international benefits before leaving the United States; your coverage may be different outside the U.S.

• In an emergency, go directly to the nearest hospital.

• For information on doctors and hospitals or to receive medical assistance, call 1 (800) 810-BLUE (2583) or collect at 1 (804) 673-1177.

• If you need to be hospitalized, call the number on your member card for pre-authorization.

• In most cases, you won’t have immediate expenses for inpatient care at BlueCard Worldwide hospitals. You’re only responsible for the usual out-of-pocket expenses (i.e., non-covered services, deductible, copay or coinsurance). The hospital submits your claim.

• In the case of a non-participating doctor and/or hospital, you pay for services and complete an international claim form and send it with the bill(s) to the BlueCard Worldwide Service Center. The claim form is available online at www.bcbs.com/bluecardworldwide.
