Wellness in the Workplace

Encouraging employees to adopt healthy lifestyles

Wellness in the workplace is a hot topic in the media and around the water cooler. As the cost of health care continues to rise, many employers are taking a look at how employee health is affecting their company's bottom line. The reality is that sedentary lifestyles and unhealthy habits are driving up health-related costs, prompting many companies to adopt worksite wellness initiatives

How does worksite wellness affect a company's bottom line?

Companies that invest in worksite wellness recognize that bottom line results become most apparent over the long term.
Healthy employees tend to be more energized, engaged and productive on the job.
Studies suggest that worksite wellness programs may foster a culture of support, and employees may feel more connected to one another and to the company.
Employees who participate in wellness programs may gain a new understanding of the role they play in maintaining health as they recognize the impact on their own out-of-pocket health care costs.
Taking a health risk assessment (HRA) may motivate employees to make healthy lifestyle changes that could potentially reduce their risks of future health problems.

In summary, worksite wellness is a healthy investment. Companies that have initiated programs are often enthusiastic about the tangible and intangible results within all levels of their organizations. It's a win-win for everyone.

"Our employees are our most valuable asset. If our employees aren't well or healthy, it affects our business greatly with their productivity and morale."
