2009 Federal Employee Program (FEP) benefit changes
The following is a summary of Federal Employee Program (FEP) benefit
changes effective January 1:
Basic Option Only
- The copayment for primary care providers increased
to $25.
- The copayment for specialists remains at $30.
- The emergency room copayment increased to $75.
- The outpatient facility copayment increased to $50.
Standard Option Only
- The coinsurance for Preferred providers increased to
15%.
- The copayment for Preferred providers increased to $20.
- The inpatient hospital copayment increased to $200 per admission.
Standard and Basic Options
- The ambulance copayment increased to $100 for ground
transportation. The copayment for sea/air transportation
increased to $150.
- Pre-authorization is now required for the following services:
- Bariatric surgery
- Outpatient behavioral health services
- Outpatient surgery to correct congenital anomalies
- Outpatient surgery to correct accidental injuries to jaws, cheeks,
lips, tongue and the roof and floor of mouth
