In late September, the Best Doctors Second Opinion Program, a new voluntary and confidential service, became available to Boeing employees and to their dependents who are enrolled in a Boeing health plan. The new program is part of The Boeing Company's Well-Being portfolio of resources designed to help Boeing employees manage their health and financial well-being. Boeing employees and their covered dependents facing a new and difficult medical diagnosis can call Best Doctors to ask for an expert review of their diagnosis and proposed treatment options.
About Best Doctors
Best Doctors is an authoritative, independent medical resource that uses expert "best-in-their-field" physicians to review a patient's case to advise whether a diagnosis is correct and to help the patient make informed decisions regarding treatment options. A phone call initiates the process and all communication is done via phone, email and fax. No doctor's visit is necessary.
The process
When a patient calls Best Doctors, he or she is assigned a dedicated Member Advocate (a registered nurse) who gathers details, including medical records, about the patient's condition. The Best Doctors medical team then conducts a comprehensive case analysis. Afterward, the appropriate experts for the medical condition are selected to evaluate the case based on the most up-to-date medical advances.
Patients receive a report of the findings, as well as a full Expert Report for reference by the treating physician. With the patient's consent, the Best Doctors team delivers the report to the treating physician and then speaks with the patient about the report's findings.
