November 2009
Reminder: Medicare compliance training required for Regence MedAdvantage providers
CMS regulations require compliance training for "first tier, downstream and related entities" of a Medicare Advantage plan.
- This designation applies not only to Regence MedAdvantage, but to any Medicare Advantage plan with which you contract.
- Physicians and other health care professionals who contract with a Medicare Advantage plan, such as Regence MedAdvantage, are considered "first tier" entities.
If you have not yet completed this annual training for 2009, we strongly encourage you to do so before the end of the year. For your convenience, an online workshop is available that meets the CMS requirement. In addition:
- Training must be completed yearly and documented.
- Training developed internally or by third parties may also be used.
